Wijnaldum’s humble attitude will delight Liverpool fans after Balotelli saga

Gini Wijnaldum has been speaking to the media in The Netherlands, and his attitude couldn’t be more different to the big-charlie Mario Balotelli who we have just managed to get off our books.

Rather than creating a Twitter storm and getting his agent air his dirty laundry in public, Gini say he never wants to forget who he is and how it all started. It’s so refreshing to hear!

Speaking to the Algemeen Dagblad, he said he didn’t want to be known as some big star from Liverpool, and instead wanted to continue to be known as the player he had always been.

“I always try to keep thinking of the Gini of that time [in Rotterdam where it all started]”, he said.

“I also think that I have not changed, you treat everyone equally. When I go somewhere, I hope to be Gini and not ‘the Liverpool player’.”

He started his career at Sparta Rotterdam, but soon joined their bigger cross-city rivals Feyenoord. He then went via PSV Eindhoven and Newcastle before eventually arriving with ourselves.
