Loris Karius gets the nod as Simon Mignolet dropped to the bench

Loris Karius has been given the nod ahead of Simon Mignolet for our game against Hull City tomorrow.

The German keeper made his debut against Derby County in the midweek League Cup tie, and will retain his place on Saturday afternoon.

The news was broken by Echo journalist, James Pearce.

Apparently, the two keepers were told of the news at Melwood on Friday afternoon.

We’re delighted that Karius will get his chance, but it’s hard to feel sorry for Migs. The Belgian stopper has been in good form so far this season and would have been hopeful of keeping his place.

What now for the former number one? Klopp has espoused the virtues of having two quality keepers at the club, but with no European football it remains to be seen how long Simon Mignolet will be happy with a bench place for.
