Liverpool get huge Wijnaldum boost – midfielder could be fit for Man Utd

Gini Wijnaldum has NOT injured his hamstring and the club still harbour some hopes that he’ll be fit to play Man Utd on Monday night at Anfield.

According to the Echo, a scan at Melwood revealed a hip injury. Officially, the club have not set a return date, but unofficially, Klopp is refusing to rule him out of the the Utd clash.

He is currently undergoing intensive treatment on the injury, which has only been described as a “hip complaint”. There are no further details at this stage.

Of course, as much as we would all love for him to be fit for United, it is only one game. You can be sure that Klopp will not rush him back if he’s not fit, possibly risking a worse and longer layoff in the process.

If we had to guess, we would say he won’t play – Klopp’s tactics demand high energy, high fitness, and 100 percent effort. We cannot afford to carry someone who is only at 85 or 90 percent.

Emre Can or Lucas will probably play in his place.
