Steven Gerrard drops huge hint about his future with cryptic Instagram post

Is Steven Gerrard about to hang up his boots?

Very possibly.

The 36-year-old has been debating the next step in his career for the last few months, but an Instagram post today seems to confirm he has made up his mind.

“Living in Los Angeles and playing for the great Galaxy supporters has been a privilege,” he wrote.

“You have made this place feel like home to me. This city and this club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you #8”.

Gerrard has been playing for the LA Galaxy since the summer of 2015. After initially struggling with a series of injuries, he’s been in fine form this season – scoring three goals in 18 games and helping his side qualify for the MLS post-season.

With one game still to play in the regular season, the Galaxy have already confirmed a third-place finish in the Western Conference.

They’ll now go into a series of playoffs with 11 other sides. The final will be held in early-December.

It remains unclear whether or not Gerrard will seek further playing opportunities elsewhere, or look to move into a coaching/managerial role.
