Predicted Liverpool XI v Leeds; Jurgen Klopp set to ring major changes for EFL Cup quarter

With the likes of Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino all injured right now, Jurgen Klopp has no choice but to ring big changes against Leeds in the EFL Cup to keep his Premier League side as fresh as possible.

In fact, we only think two members of the side that should play against Bournemouth next weekend will start at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Between the sticks, Simon Mignolet will definitely come in for the ever-improving Loris Karius, who kept his second consecutive clean-sheet at the weekend.

Alberto Moreno comes in for James Milner at left-back, while young Englishman Trent Alexander-Arnold allows Nathaniel Clyne a rest on the other side. There’s a chance Joe Gomez might get a start for the first time under Klopp, but we think it’s more likely that he’ll use either Dejan Lovren or Joel Matip alongside Ragnar Klavan. We’ll go with the Croat, who’s been used less frequently in recent months.

By deploying one of the regular first-teamers at the back, Lucas can play in midfield, likely alongside Marko Grujic and Kevin Stewart – who’ll provide a mix of creativity and steel.

We’ve a rasp of injuries in the offensive positions, so reckon Klopp might use two teenagers either side of Divock Origi, who’ll be desperate for more minutes after his match-winning contribution against Sunderland. Ovie Ejaria is likely to play, but we think Klopp might give Ben Woodburn a start as well after using the 17-year-old off the bench at the weekend.

Other options include Cameron Brannagan, but we’re pretty sure Sadio Mane will get a deserved rest.
