Reading could move for Reds midfielder Ovie Ejaria before the end of the day, according to a Reading Chronicle journalist.

Reading originally wanted to sign Ejaria on loan again, having had him there temporarily last season, but the Reds only want to sanction a permanent transfer.

The Reds do not see a long-term future for Ejaria at Anfield, but a move to the Championship could be a good one for the 21-year-old.

Ejaria impressed at times when he came through the Reds’ Academy system, and made a couple of first-team appearances in the EFL Cup, but has not played for Jurgen Klopp for a couple of years.

He did not travel on the pre-season tour to the US and was not present at first-team training even early in the summer, when a few young players trained at Melwood while many senior players were still on holiday.

Foreign clubs can still make signings after 5pm today, but clubs in the Premier League and the Championship must conclude business by then, leaving little time for him to seal the move.
