Carragher nails it with Woodburn tweet

Jamie Carragher has undoubtedly made the boldest statement with regards to the future of Liverpool’s latest star Ben Woodburn.

The Liverpool legend took to Twitter to have his say on the 17-year-old’s record breaking goal in last night’s 2-0 EFL Cup quarter final win over Leeds.

Now there’s something to aim for.

Everyone seems to have a special feeling about the 17-year-old. So often in the past we have seen youngsters fail to live up to high expectations, but there is something different about the way people are talking about Woodburn.

There is no better way to announce yourself at Liverpool than by scoring at Anfield and making an impact as quickly as the Cheshire-born teenager did yesterday.

An early impact was exactly what he needed and that could see him go on to make even more appearances for the first team this season.

A player of his young age and promise getting first team experience bodes well for the future.

Woodburn has already surpassed Michael Owen as Liverpool’s youngest ever scorer so he’s certainly heading in the right direction.
