Pundit thinks Liverpool will annihilate ‘terrible’ West Ham

Sky Sports pundit (although not everyone would call him that…) Paul Merson has predicted Liverpool will beat West Ham 3-0 on Sunday, but actually thinks it could be much more convincing than that.

The Irons are on the back of a pummelling handed out by Arsenal and will travel to Anfield with spirits low. Liverpool however experienced a heartbreak of our own last weekend against Bournemouth, throwing away a two goal lead with 15 minutes remaining to lose 4-3.

Merson though watched Slaven Bilic’s men against the Gunners, and claims they were so poor, it could be a cricket score at Anfield this time.

“The last 20 minutes against Arsenal was just terrible and I fear for West Ham. Another 10 minutes and it could have been eight,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“They are shipping goals left, right and centre and could be in real trouble this weekend if Liverpool get on a roll.

“I can’t see anything other than a comfortable home win, and I’m actually being kind to the Hammers with my prediction [of 3-0].

It could be much worse.”

After our failed trip to the Cherries, we’d take a sloppy 1-0 win without a shadow of a doubt!

Thankfully, we’ll have our centre-back in chief Joel Matip back from injury, and we hope he can shore up the backline as Dejan Lovren looks a far less assured player without the Cameroonian alongside him.

As well as Matip, Adam Lallana should return, starting in the midfield three, meaning Klopp will have to choose between Emre Can and Gini Wijnaldum on the right of Jordan Henderson.

Up top, Divock Origi should keep his spot after bagging three in three, while Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will flank him.

Bring it on!
