Manchester City want Liverpool’s best player, but we’ve got a tactic to keep him…

It’s no surprise Manchester City are interested in Coutinho…

Every time he plays against them, he puts them to the sword!

But despite their apparent interest, reported in the Daily Star, there’s no way we’ll let our Brazilian genius join a direct rival.

We did sell Raheem Sterling to the Etihad club, but Coutinho wouldn’t even consider behaving in the manner in which the Englishman did in 2015 which effectively forced him out of the club.

If he is to leave anywhere (we really hope he doesn’t…) it’ll be to Real Madrid or Barcelona – not a sideways step up the M62.

The report suggests that while City want Coutinho as a long-term replacement for the brilliant but ageing David Silva, we’re going to offer him a contract extension to help tie him to Anfield for the considerable future.

Our no.10 signed a lengthy new deal 18 months ago, but his progression and the interest of the world’s biggest clubs means he’s probably already due improved terms.

Coutinho’s injured at the moment, but ironically, he’s expected to return for the New Year’s Eve clash with City… Let’s hope he shows them what they’ll never have once again.
