Ragnar Klavan sums up ‘special’ teammate as he joins in with the tributes to Liverpool striker

All this long overdue love for Daniel Sturridge is brilliant.

A place in the starting lineup for the striker isn’t too far away and would come a lot sooner if the team wasn’t playing so well.

His tough fight for a spot in the first eleven is testament to the strength of Jurgen Klopp’s team and Divock Origi in particular.

A goal within a minute of coming on in yesterday’s 4-1 over Stoke followed up his crucial role in Sadio Mane’s last gasp winner in the Merseyside derby to remind his manager of what he is capable of. Two brief cameos is all that he has needed to demonstrate how much of a difference he can make.

Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan has highlighted his teammate’s quality and how important he is to the side. He told Liverpoolfc.com: “He’s an amazing player and the quality in his left leg is something special.”

“He’s always a threat to everybody and in training it’s really difficult to play against him because you never know what he’s going to do – in a good way.”

“That’s Daniel. He’s really important to us and even if he comes from the bench you can see he’s bringing something extra. That’s really good.”

2017 promises to be an interesting year for Liverpool and for Sturridge himself. We are still certain that he has a key role to play in how the season ends for this club.
