Liverpool fans on edge as Wijnaldum leaves Dutch training with head injury

There’s nothing more gut-wrenching than hearing our best players have been struck down with injury during international duty.

It feels so helpless!

Yesterday, Dutch outlet NOS Voetbal claimed Gini Wijnaldum had picked up an injury to his head in training.

Naturally, Liverpool supporters feared the worst, but it doesn’t look too serious – thankfully. There’s hope for Wijnaldum to play Holland’s fixture against Bulgaria on Saturday, a key World Cup Qualifier, after he took to Instagram after the event like nothing happened!

The 26-year-old has been in fine recent form for Liverpool, putting in excellent performances against Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs – establishing himself as one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp’s team-sheet.

His energetic displays must continue if we’re to qualify for the Champions League, of course.

We’ve a crunch Merseyside Derby at home to Everton after the international break, and providing he’s healthy, he’ll be in the team.
