Work permit issues rock Liverpool RE midfielder

Many Liverpool fans thought we’d be welcoming young Brazilian Allan Rodrigues back this summer, but that’s now looking unlikely to be the case.

The midfielder has been on loan at Hertha Berlin in Germany in order to secure a work-permit for next term, but according to James Pearce in the Echo, he’ll require another season in Europe before he’s allowed to work in England.

That means the earliest we’ll see Allan in red is 2018, but in truth, another year on loan will probably do him good.

This term, he lost the first four Bundesliga matches he started, resigned to a substitute role in the main, but played superbly at the weekend as his side beat Wolfsburg at home.

If he can keep his place in the team until the summer, he’ll hopefully be a starter for Hertha next term and from here can continue to develop his undeniable skills.

Allan is slight, but a la Marco Verratti, has a superb passing range and can control tempo from the base of midfield.
