European giants revealed as Liverpool’s Audi Cup opponents

Liverpool will get the opportunity to compete with some of Europe’s elite clubs this summer when the club takes part in the Audi Cup at the Allianz Arena.

Making the suggestion that it could be a valuable Champions League warm-up seems far too dangerous when considering Liverpool’s recent history of heartbreak.

That said, it promises to be a great learning curve for not only the first team regulars but for the club’s youth stars as they come up against some of the top talent world football has to offer.

The Reds are expected to face Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Champions League semi-finalists Atletico Madrid and Italian heavyweights AC Milan in the four-team tournament, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Milan’s participation will depend on their potential involvement in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League with the Serie A side currently in sixth place in the league.

The pre-season competition will take place after the club’s scheduled training camp in Germany which is expected to follow the Premier League’s Asia Trophy in Hong Kong this July.

Liverpool’s busy pre-season calendar is sure to showcase a number of new arrivals and pose as a stage for them to give Reds fans a glimpse of what they will offer the team next season.
