Dominic Solanke continued his sparkling pre-season form on Saturday as he opened the scoring in Liverpool’s friendly against Hertha Berlin.

The summer signing put his new side 1-0 up early on in the first half just when it look as though Liverpool’s Bundesliga opponents were building some momentum.

Solanke was a late change to the initial starting lineup, taking the place of the injured Divock Origi who was supposed to feature from the off.

He took full advantage of his opportunity as he latched onto Adam Lallana’s cleverly chipped pass before guiding his header over the goalkeeper, who should have done better.

The forward’s goal was his second for the club, following up his impressive strike in Liverpool’s Asia Trophy win over Crystal Palace in Hong Kong.
