Four LFC starlets receive England call up… a first for one teenage sensation

Liverpool will be well-represented in the upcoming international break after four young Reds were called up to their respective England squads.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been named in the England U21s squad for the first time after his breakthrough 2016/2017 campaign and impressive start to the new season as Liverpool’s first choice right-back in Nathaniel Clyne’s absence.

He will be joined by defender Joe Gomez and summer signing Dominic Solanke, who was named player of the tournament in England’s winning U20 World Cup campaign.

While it marks another landmark achievement for Alexander-Arnold, the call up also represents a valuable opportunity for Gomez to not only work towards rediscovering his top form but also to begin establishing himself on the international stage after his injury setbacks.

Aidy Boothroyd’s side will travel to face the Netherlands on September 1 before welcoming Latvia to Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium days later as part of their UEFA U21 Championship qualification.

The success for Liverpool’s youth stars didn’t stop there, with striker Rhian Brewster being named in the England U18 squad for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and South Africa.

Brewster missed the club’s entire preseason due to injury but has made a bright start to the season for the U23s, scoring one and creating another in a recent 3-0 over Blackburn.

Congratulations, Reds.
