This is slightly odd, as Mundo Deportivo’s primary aim seems to be to link Coutinho to Barcelona at every possible opportunity.
Today though, they’ve claimed preliminary talks between Barca’s arch-nemesis Real Madrid have held ‘outline’ talks with Liverpool.
Sport Witness have translated their report, which claims while Coutinho’s heart is still set on a future Nou Camp switch, Real Madrid’s interest could intrigue him.
For Liverpool, if we do decide to let our Brazilian star leave in 2018, this could be positive – as it will drive up the price to unthinkable potential amounts considering PSG have also made him a priority [Independent].
It’s not the time to think about it of course, but the feeling is that Liverpool will eventually allow Coutinho his departure after he tried so hard to force a move this summer just gone.
Anyone but Barca, after the way they treated us in July and August, is fine by us, in all honesty.
We just need to make sure a replacement is targeted early so we’re not held to ransom once we have money burning our pocket.
