Great news: Liverpool boss gives fans the injury news we needed to hear

Posted by

We won’t be seeing Gini Wijnaldum and Emre Can in Liverpool’s defence again on Wednesday night!

That much we’re pretty much certain of…

Jurgen Klopp told today’s press-conference that two centre-backs who’ve been unavailable due to illness will be ready in Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez.

“They were in training yesterday. Ragnar and Joe are back,” he told reporters at Melwood.

Sadly though, Joel Matip and Adam Lallana are not yet ready for action, he confirmed:

“Joel Matip not. Adam Lallana not. That’s it.”

Adam Lallana made his first appearance of the season v Chelsea, but is injured again now.

As a result, we think Klavan will come back into the side to play alongside Lovren, with Gomez taking Trent Alexander-Arnold’s spot at right-back.

At left-back, Alberto Moreno is likely to replace Andrew Robertson, despite the Scot doing relatively well against Brighton at the weekend.

Loris Karius will replace Simon Mignolet though, with the German Liverpool’s Champions League goalkeeper.

A win will ensure we go through to the Last 16 as Group Winners.
