Liverpool are considering spending a large sum on Lyon’s mightily impressive 19-year-old Houssem Aouar, reports Goal.
The France U21 international has become a starter for Lyon this term, impressing in a central midfield role that requires both defensive and offensive contribution.
However, he can also play on the left or as a no.10, which has naturally drawn comparisons to Coutinho, who Liverpool sold to Barcelona for £142m in January.

“I’ve always played in the middle, so the role of hard-working midfielder is the one that I like the most,” he said. “But I like the left wing, too. It allows me to work and to develop other skills. I’ll adapt to anything.
“It doesn’t matter where I play, I know it’s my chance and I’ll play anywhere to take it!”
The report says that Barcelona are also eyeing Aouar, having scouted him heavily this term.
In total during 2017/18, the teenager has five goals and three assists from 32 appearances, eye-opening considering his age.
Liverpool definitely need a technically capable creator in the summer, with Emre Can set to depart on a Bosman free and Coutinho gone.
Jorginho is the primary target, but a move for Aouar could materialise if Napoli’s DMC proves unattainable.
If we get one of those alongside Naby Keita, who’s already confirmed, Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options will look considerably improved.
