LFC meet with £87m midfielder to discuss summer transfer – Report

We’ve learned over the past few years not to pay too much attention to reports from Portuguese outlets.

Most of the time, the articles are conjured from thin air and just flatly make no sense at all.

But we’re sharing this one with you as it fits with the kind of player Jurgen Klopp likes and what Liverpool need this summer.

O Jogo, translated by Metro, claim that our officials have already met with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who’s racked up a very impressive 13 goals and 18 assists in all competitions this term.

The 23-year-old has an £87m release-clause, having joined from Sampdoria for 10% of that in 2017.

As you can see, Fernandes has superb version, sound technical ability and the penchant for genius long-shots, much like the man he could potentially replace, Coutinho!

Our former no.10 left in January and as of yet nobody has been signed with the £142m we collected upon his departure.

£87m is far, far too much for Fernandes, who is only yet beginning to fulfil his undeniable talent, but Sporting may do business for a much smaller sum.

What we like about Fernandes is his ability to play in a box-to-box role, but also either as a no.10 or even a no.6.

This versatility is really attractive, as are his stats from this term.

We’ll watch this space with interest to see if anything comes of the story.
