If Stevie Gerrard believes it, then that’s good enough for me…
What a night it was for Liverpool in the Champions League, and what a season this continues to be for the unstoppable Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian goal machine was at it again tonight against his old club, scoring two superb goals against Roma in our 5-2 semi-final first leg victory.
The 25-year-old even managed to pick up two assists on the night and his performance had Gerrard purring.
That’s now 43 goals in all competitions this season and there’s no doubt Salah’s performance levels are just on another planet at this moment in time.
With more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, is the LFC man now above those two? Well, Gerrard basically thinks so…
“Without a shadow of a doubt, he’s the best player on the planet right now.”

It’s worth noting he stressed he’s the best at the moment – and it would be foolish to elevate him to anything more than that due to the sheer longevity of the Real Madrid and Barcelona goal machines.
Still, if he carries on like this he’s sure to go down in the history books as one of the greatest of all time.
For now, just a goal or two in Rome next week would do the trick for us!
