Big boost for Liverpool in Fekir chase – Reliable French Report

Lyon are close to agreeing a bumper five-year contract with youngster Houssem Auoar, who they plan on using in Nabil Fekir’s no.10 role, RMC Sport state.

Auoar was used behind Fekir this season just gone, but he prefers a more advanced, creatively free role – and the fact Lyon are planning to move him further forward proves they’re planning for life without their skipper.

Liverpool are currently in discussions with Lyon over a deal, but their president Jean-Michel Aulas is playing hardball, well aware that if his star asset enjoys a good World Cup, he can demand a higher price.

L’Equipe [translated by Sport Witness] state negotiations are moving in slow motion, so although we’re entirely confident a deal will eventually get done, we think it’ll be in July rather than June.

We suppose this at least gives us something to look forward to, with deals for Fabinho and Naby Keita already wrapped up!

If we acquire Fekir and a top goalkeeper, either Alisson or Jan Oblak, we’ll be absolutely delighted with Liverpool’s summer business – as Jurgen Klopp will have fixed almost every problem area of the squad.

With Alisson, Fekir, Fabinho, Naby Keita and perhaps a backup winger, we’ll be well stocked to mount a challenge on the Premier League in 2018/19.
