Lyon are trying to buy FC Porto midfielder Hector Herrera and have made an offer for the Mexican, according to GFFN.
This is interesting for Liverpool fans, as it perhaps suggests the Ligue 1 giants are readying themselves to lose captain Nabil Fekir.
Herrera plays more centrally while Fekir is a no.10, but with plans for youngster Houssem Aouar to move forward, Herrera could take his spot in the middle and Aouar could advance.
Of course, we’re speculating – but with rumours online that Fekir is demanding an exit and has refused a new contract – it’s certainly worth talking about.
Liverpool have wanted a playmaker ever since Coutinho departed in January, but despite agreeing a fee with Lyon before the World Cup for Fekir, have yet to purchase one.
We personally believe that while the work done this transfer window is very encouraging, the squad lacks a creative midfielder with guile who plays between the lines – and it would be a shame if we didn’t go big for one.
Fekir would cap off an incredible summer, but with two weeks left of the transfer window, we’re not expecting anything to happen imminently.
