Belgian right-back Thomas Meunier, who scored for PSG at Anfield last night, has praised Liverpool following our 3-2 win.

He’s suggested that PSG’s star-studded side should take a leaf out of Jurgen Klopp’s book tactically and play more like Liverpool!

Meunier told RMC, translated by the Echo: “We should follow Liverpool’s example: they play simply, quickly, with lots of intensity and overlaps.

“It comes in waves, it never stops and the opponent is completely cornered. With our qualities, we can vary play, we have the players and the technical quality to do so.”

In fairness, Meunier is probably right! But implementing Klopp’s all-action pressing style is easier said than done, especially when you have players who simply refuse to defend like Neymar.

The French played a strange game last night, where they left their forwards up top in the hope that their individual quality would shine through.

However, it gave Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson loads of time on the ball and from our own fullbacks, we created chances. Daniel Sturridge’s opener was from a Robbo cross and the striker should have buried another when Trent put a ball onto his head.

It’ll be a tough task in Paris, but we’re hoping we’ll have practically qualified by that point anyway.
