Why Jordan Henderson was taken off at half-time vs. Huddersfield

Reds captain Jordan Henderson was taken off at half-time and replaced by Gini Wijnaldum – and Jurgen Klopp has revealed that is was because of a slight injury.

Henderson could have continued but it was decided no unnecessary risks should be taken.

Klopp explained, via LiverpoolFC.com: “He wanted to carry on – that’s a good sign. Hopefully, it’s nothing; it was not that he felt nothing but he didn’t feel a lot – we decided no.”

The injury is not expected to keep the number 14 out for long, but given the options on the bench, there was no point taking any chances. He may well return midweek against Red Star Belgrade.
