Samuel Eto’o has discussed his relationship with Mo Salah and claimed he always knew the Egyptian would go on to do great things.

The pair were in the Chelsea squad together in 2014, with Eto’o coming to the end of his career as an elite forward and Salah struggling to become one…

At the time, Jose Mourinho wasn’t giving Salah many chances, and the youngster was failing to take them when they arose.

Eto’o though saw potential even at that stage.

“I hope that Salah remembers the day we were together in Stamford Bridge locker room, after he had a poor performance,” he told “I asked him to be patient and told him ‘You are a good player and you will become a great player’.

“Salah has turned into that big player and will write his own story through persistence and strong desire. The whole thing depends on Salah himself, he has unbelievable skills and is currently performing at top level that permits him compete for Ballon d’Or.”

The legendary Cameroonian was heavily linked to Liverpool at one point, but ended up at Chelsea and then Everton, before moving to Italy, Turkey and now Qatar.

The 37-year-old is on mindboggling money at Qatar FC – a quite smart way to play out your final footballing days – all things considered!

Salah is 11-years Eto’s junior and hopefully, trophies await. The older man won multiple league titles and Champions Leagues with various clubs and is considered an all-time great. It’d be beautiful to watch Mo do so with Liverpool!
