John Arne Riise explained it better than we ever could after the game last night.
The Norwegian discussed both the performance of the referee and PSG’s savage play-acting in an honest tweet an hour after the final whistle.

Riise labelled PSG a ‘disgrace’ and suggested the ref ‘lost the game’ when he failed to send off Marco Verratti for his horror-tackle on Joe Gomez.
He’s not wrong on either count…
Ref lost the game early. Should have given Verratti red. Then should have given yellow for all the play acting and diving. Absolutely ridiculous how they rolled around. Top players doing that is just a disgrace. Ruins the game. Get up and play on! Freaking annoying

Despite the obvious anger Liverpool can and should have towards both our opponents and the officials, the reality is that the performance was poor – as it has been twice away from home in the Champions League this term.
Jurgen Klopp needs to abandon the James Milner/Jordan Henderson/Gini Wijnaldum triumvirate – as it actively damages our chances and limits our world-class attack.
Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have no support or clever passes from midfield when that trio plays and it’s becoming more frustrating when we have £100m worth of talent in Fabinho and Naby Keita waiting on the bench – both of whom are capable of offering drive and creativity.
Let’s get them into the side – fast.
