Manchester City fans love to claim that Ederson is better than Reds’ stopper Alisson – but there has now been some definitive proof to end the debate.

In The Guardian’s top-100 players of 2018, an extensive and comprehensive list compiled using data from 225 football experts from 69 different countries, Alisson placed 43rd overall, with Ederson coming 59th.

Alisson is Brazil’s number one, which shows exactly how he is thought of in his homeland, and now The Guardian have added more evidence in his favour.

He has made a couple of errors this season, but neither have mattered, and the difference he has made to the Reds’ backline is enormous.

Since signing from AS Roma, he and Virgil van Dijk have been the main instigators in improving the Reds’ defence and making Joe Gomez a world-class operator.

There is no doubt that Alisson has been a £67 million bargain – and that he’s the best in the Premier League.
