Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp thinks Virgil van Dijk has another 12 years of football left in his tank!

This would take the Dutchman up until 2031!

The boss was talking to the media today about the 27-year-old, who is enjoying the best season of his career.

No other central defender is currently on van Dijk’s level and the fact we’re on top of the Premier League table is largely down to him…

“He has so many things already good and so many he can still improve. Most important that he is fit. It’s all good,” Klopp told his press-conference before Brighton.

“I think much more positively about my players than I talk to you about them.

“He can play until he’s 39 or so and there is a lot to come. He has outstanding potential.”

Van Dijk will have Fabinho alongside him at the back on Saturday for the first time, with Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip all unavailable.

For the Brazilian, there is nobody better to help him through the game, in which he’s likely to be directly up against Brighton’s physical forward Glenn Murray.

Brighton are a decent outfit and it’s going to be a tough afternoon at the Amex, but with van Dijk starting at the back – we’re heavy favourites.

It’s vital that we get back on winning ways after the blip at the start of this January.
