Is Sadio Mane going to Real Madrid in the summer?
No, in short.
The Senegalese international has been linked to the Bernabeu giants as part of Zinedine Zidane’s much-needed rebuild – and it’s not hard to see why.
This term, our no.10 has hit 21 goals and been involved in countless others.
In fact, no other Premier League player has more non-penalty goals than Mane – who has been integral in both our attempts to win the title and the Champions League so far.
And it looks like he’ll be involved in plenty more, too.
‘Of course I want to be a legend not only for Liverpool but also in the Premier League story and that is one of my targets. I will do everything possible to achieve everything possible,’ Mane told LFC magazine, cited in the Metro.
‘Reaching 100 games means a lot to me. To play this many games for a club like Liverpool is incredible.
‘Like I have always said, I am very happy to play for this club and every single day I am enjoying being here and trying to do everything to win something for this club.’
It would cost Real Madrid more than the £200m PSG spent on Neymar for Mane, who at 27, is in his prime.
That kind of money simply can’t be gambled on someone who cannot offer you a decade of football at the highest level.
Mane’s game is largely based on speed and power – so he’s not going to be one of these footballers who’s still elite in his mid-thirties.
While that thought is a little sad, it does at least mean he’s going absolutely nowhere!
