Reds linked with exciting Ligue 1 ace; but there’s a catch…

Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Lyon’s potential superstar Houssem Aouar in Le10Sport.

The French outlet claims Liverpool have already ‘advanced talks’ with the Ligue 1 side regarding the transfer of the 20-year-old playmaker.

We obviously have an established conversation with Lyon’s honchos because of the Nabil Fekir saga last summer – but whether this would ease a potential deal – who knows!

However, we’d advise Liverpool fans to take this story with a pinch of salt.

The article in question is credited to ‘AH and AB,’ the same journalists who spouted some recent nonsense about Mo Salah departing and Nicolas Pepe from Lille replacing him.

While we imagine we might’ve shown an interest in Pepe, it certainly won’t be at the expense of Salah – who is going absolutely nowhere.

There’s also an argument to suggest we don’t actually need a creative midfielder. With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returning for next season, we’ll have an attacking option for one of the spots either side of the anchorman in Jurgen Klopp’s favoured 4-3-3.

Now Naby Keita has found his feet, and with Jordan Henderson proving to be a more than adept ‘no.8’ – there are not many spaces left to fill.

The ‘midfielder’ with most creative passing tendencies, Xherdan Shaqiri, cannot get a sniff right now, for example.
