Reported Liverpool target considers Reds transfer

Maxi Gomez has spoken out about how happy he is at Celta Vigo amid reports linking him with a move to Liverpool and Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp will be looking ahead to this summer for an opportunity to build on his incredible team, and the Uruguayan forward is reportedly on his shortlist.

The striker has spent the last two years leading the attack at Celta alongside former Liverpool man Iago Aspas, but insists he’s happy where he is.

Gomez was recently quizzed about his future, but he’s quite clear. “There are many comments through social networks, what if I sign for Barcelona, if I go to Liverpool,” he told MARCA – via the Liverpool Echo.

I am very calm and in Vigo I feel very comfortable.”

The forward has found the back of the net 13 times this season in 34 games; he’s also managed to tot up five assists in La Liga.

Gomez is used exclusively in the centre of attack and Klopp may see him as a potential protege for Bobby Firmino – considering how Divock Origi is more suited to playing off a poacher.

The Reds may become Premier League champions next week, but will need a favour from Leicester City, and that’d make us an even more tantalising destination than we already are.
