Brighton players send Reds fans message ahead of Premier League final day

The maths are simple: for Liverpool to win the Premier League title this weekend, not only must the Reds do our own job against Wolves at Anfield, but Manchester City must drop points down at Brighton.

It seems unlikely to happen – but then so did the miracle that happened on Tuesday night (and Wednesday, for that matter).

Chris Hughton’s men have nothing to play for having already secured their Premier League status ahead of next season with a game to spare, but hopefully, that will be mean they can relax into playing some good stuff.

Certainly, their players are wanting to do the Reds a favour.

Goalkeeper Mat Ryan, who will have a huge role to play in keeping City at bay at the Amex, told the Mirror: “The most surreal thing is having friends and family who are Liverpool supporters and having the opportunity to have such a big influence on history.

“A couple of mates I grew up with have been messaging me. The more I think about it, the more I’m remembering the messages I’ve got! If we can disturb the party, it would be nice.”

German midfielder Pascal Gross, who the Reds were linked with a move for earlier in the season, is also hoping his side can help fellow countryman Jurgen Klopp to the title.

He said to Kicker: “I am a professional and I want to win every game. Klopp deserves the title because Liverpool have played on the highest level. We will try everything to take a point against Man City.”

If Brighton do take points off City, it won’t just be a Divock Origi statue being unveiled outside Anfield – the Seagulls’ players can all have one too!
