Roberto Firmino is set to return from injury in time to face Tottenham in the Champions League final, according to the Telegraph.
The same report claims the Brazilian forward will probably miss out on the weekend’s game against Wolves, but the more important one to have him back for is the final.
In his absence, Divock Origi has done an admirable job – and will hopefully do so again on Sunday – but having Firmino back can only be a good thing.
The number nine has scored 16 times in the league this season, and while he has been outshone at times by Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, it has been another excellent campaign for him.
After really excelling last season, he has once again proven to be vital in the centre of the Reds’ frontline.
He also has previous against Spurs, having opened the scoring against them at Anfield in March, and netted what proved to be the winner earlier in the season against them at Wembley.
