Sir Kenny Dalglish has lauded Jurgen Klopp as being a ‘breath of fresh air’ – and has revealed that a prediction he made about the German when he arrived at the club in October 2015 has certainly come true.
Having won the Champions League just over a week ago, Klopp has gone up in the estimations of pundits and fans of other clubs, but Reds supporters have always known that he was set to do great things – and Dalglish was no different.
He told the Daily Post: “When Jurgen Klopp was appointed, I said that we should all strap ourselves in because it was going to be a rollercoaster ride. Well, it certainly has been.
“I’m delighted for him that he has won his first trophy with Liverpool. He has revitalised this brilliant football club and has been a breath of fresh air.”
There is certainly nothing to argue against there – Klopp has done a superb job since he came in, and no one can say he hasn’t won a trophy any more.
This is what he has been building towards since he came into the club, and after we have been patient, the reward for his efforts was to become a European champion.
Dalglish added: “Now that this current Liverpool side have all had a taste of that wonderful feeling, of winning such an outstanding prize, they will want it again and again – just as we all did 40 years ago. It’s the winning that counts. That’s what we believe at Liverpool.”
With one trophy under his belt, Klopp will already have turned to trying to win the next one. Hopefully, the Reds can win the Premier League next year – and we can have a party even bigger than the one that took place last weekend.
