Lauren sends Liverpool big warning about Salah & Mane that club should probably pay attention to

It’s unlikely that Sadio Mane or Mo Salah are going to play much part of Liverpool’s pre-season whatsoever.

The pair are on duty for Senegal and Egypt respectively at the African Cup of Nations – two nations who are likely to do quite well…

If either get to the Final, it’ll take place on July 19th – just 19 days before Liverpool’s Premier League opener with Norwich on August 9th.

Ex-Arsenal defender Lauren has explained how both players will need a serious rest after the physical and emotional requirements of the AFCON – and in truth – he’s probably right.

“Whatever happens, Liverpool will need to start the season without Salah and Mane, as they will need a good couple of weeks to rest and recuperate,” the former Arsenal man told Bwin, cited in the Express.

“Players will be mentally and physically exhausted and will need a few weeks to recuperate before heading into the new Premier League season.

“If they don’t get the rest, there will be a chance that their Premier League campaign will be impacted by a slow start as the players are just too tired to play.

“This could be trouble for Liverpool as both Salah and Mane will likely be involved in the latter stages of the African Cup of Nations.”

We obviously want Salah, Mane and Naby Keita of Guinea to do well – but there’s a small part of us that wouldn’t be too disappointed with their countries exiting early, which will maximise their rest periods before the new term.

Both Salah and Mane have played an incredible amount of football during the past two years, with very little break considering they were both present in Russia at World Cup 2018, right after another Champions League Final, which has massively elongated two consecutive domestic seasons.

Don’t be surprised if the likes of Divock Origi and others who’ve been more involved in pre-season feature early on at the expense of our superstars.
