PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has no time for the nonsensical rumours linking Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool!
In fairness, they have been fuelled by the player himself, who liked all of our players on Instagram, claimed he could see himself following in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard in MLS and then said he played as Liverpool on FIFA!
Obviously, there is zero chance of us spending the £200m+ it would cost to even tempt PSG into selling – but in a window that’s proving a very boring one – it’s something for fans to hang onto!
Al-Khelaifi, though, isn’t amused.
“He wants to be involved in our project to grow with the team, the club.” he said, as quoted by the Standard
“But I have explained to him that you do not ask for responsibility. You have to go and get it, sometimes even tear it off from somewhere else. You don’t wait, you provoke.
“As he is very intelligent, I am sure that he has understood…
“I am not 100% sure, but 200% sure (that he will not be leaving). I am not going to let go of this unbelievable player.”
The thought of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino behind Mbappe is hilariously exciting, but it’s not something we need to worry about.
And besides, our current set up is pretty good all on its own – with our starting trio having scored 160 goals in all competitions over the past two seasons.
If we do acquire an attacker, it’ll be a younger, versatile option who can come in and rotate – not someone who’d demand a starting spot.
The only place we can see the club spending proper money is at left-back, in a search to replace Alberto Moreno.
