Liverpool ‘particularly keen’ on Brazilian prodigy; Scouts watching as club plan future deal

Liverpool are said to be ‘battling’ Manchester City and Barcelona for the signature of Brazilian teenager Reinier, according to the Daily Mail.

Their report says the 17-year-old, who is contracted to Flamengo in his homeland, is interesting some of Europe’s elite and will be scouted heavily by all as Brazil U17s take on Paraguay this week.

Reinier is a talented midfielder who according to the Metro has been subject of a £35m bid from Everton this summer already.

But due to his age, he won’t be allowed to move to Europe until he turns 18 in January.

That hasn’t stopped English clubs gambling on South American teenagers recently, though – aware that they’ll remain with their boyhood teams and move once they reach adulthood.

Watford signed Fluminense’s Joao Pedro in a similar transfer.

We know full well Liverpool scout youngsters from all over the world, and if Reinier is as talented as these reports suggest, we’re sure he’ll be on the radar.

Can we see the Reds splashing £30m+ on a player who’d not yet get in the team, though?

We’re not sure.
