Nabil Fekir edges towards transfer – with European giants set to make bid

Nabil Fekir was very close to signing for the Reds last summer in a deal worth upwards of £50 million, but it now seems like he will be moving on in a cut-price switch this year.

Real Betis were thought to be the team he would move to as they look to replace the Tottenham-bound Giovani Lo Celso – but now Napoli have entered the frame, reportedly making a last-minute offer. That’s according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

It is thought that Fekir has been offered to Napoli, with Lyon wanting around €20million 12 months after his Reds move broke down.

For the Reds to not even have been tempted to go back for Fekir at less than half the price he would have cost last season shows there were very serious concerns last year that have not been rectified.

We’re just glad the saga should nearly be over for the 26-year-old Frenchman. The Reds didn’t perform too badly even without him last season so despite a few meltdowns last summer, it all worked out in the end.
