LFC legend gives three excellent reasons why to trust Klopp, new signings or not

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has urged Reds fans to keep calm, and carry on trusting Jurgen Klopp, ahead of the new season.

The former striker believes that even though new signings are always exciting – if the German boss doesn’t recruit anybody then we shouldn’t be worried.

Just think about some of the clangers we signed throughout the Brendan Rodgers and Roy Hogdson era!

Fowler makes three valid points in his opinion piece for the Mirror; his first of which is simply that Klopp is one of the best managers in the world!

Simple. And true.

‘God’ then claims that Liverpool winning their first piece of major silverware in the Klopp era will be a weight off everyone’s shoulders.

He’s got that baggage out of the way, too, by winning the biggest trophy of all to get rid of that serial-loser tag in finals, to prove what a quality manager he really is – if evidence was needed,Fowler stated in his piece for the Mirror.

I think that is significant for him. It confirms what he has said for the past season – that he has the best team he’s ever coached and he’s only just scratched the surface with this squad.

Fowler is spot on here – there was definitely some pressure mounting on Klopp from people outside the club before winning the Champions League. A few too many near-misses in earlier years was beginning to earn us a reputation.

But we don’t have to worry about that now as we’re the Champions of Europe! Fowler’s next point is that there were several instances where some of our best players missed out last season.

He’s talking about Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez and Adam Lallana here. “Fabinho barely played before December, but by the end of the season was one of the team’s most important players – that Barcelona miracle couldn’t have happened without him – and I can’t wait to see what he will become this season,” he continued.

Keita is similar. He was stop-start because of niggling injuries and didn’t really figure. If he can get fit – and stay fit – he will be an important player and Liverpool will be a better team.
