Liverpool have been tipped to make a move for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze in the January transfer window.
According to GOAL’s Neil Jones, the Reds have eyed up the winger for some time now and the Reds are now expected to make a move before next summer.
Jurgen Klopp didn’t add to his squad this year, but the German boss is now said to be interested in adding Chukwueze to the ranks, according to Calciomercato.
The same report suggests that Liverpool are looking for cover for star trio Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino, but the potential signing of the Nigerian won’t come as welcome news to Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Swiss international is desperate for a more involved role in the squad, and Klopp bringing in the 20-year-old Chukwueze would likely be the writing on the wall for Shaq.
But that’s purely speculation on my part.
Chukwueze has shown early promise in La Liga, and looks set to outgrow Villarreal if he continues his meteoric rise.
The forward has bags of pace and a gentle touch – two things that are key for a winger, and the youngster totted up two assists last season in Spain.
The Nigerian international is exactly the type of player Klopp goes for – he’s young, has crazy potential, and has shown an ability to play in several positions.
