Sadio Mane speaks out on Mo Salah ‘spat’

Sadio Mane says he and Mo Salah have completely put the public falling out on the pitch at Burnley before the international break behind them – saying they are just as good friends as they were before.

There were certainly no signs of animosity on Saturday as the Reds brushed Newcastle United aside with both African stars getting on the scoresheet in the 3-1 win.

Had the Reds not picked up all three points, the saga could have been reopened, but Mane was keen to draw a line under it post-match.

He told French outlet Canal+: “With Salah? It’s forgotten. These are things that happen in football. Sometimes you have to say things face to face. Sometimes it happens that I am not given the pass. But we have reconciled and become the good friends we were before.”

Next up in the Premier League is a tricky trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. Before that, though, is the small matter of the Champions League clash with Napoli in Italy on Tuesday night.

Both Mane and Salah will be crucial in each of those games if the Reds are to get the two victories that are required.
