Liverpool the greatest side Pep Guardiola has ever faced, he says

Liverpool are the best team Pep Guardiola has ever come up against, he’s once again claimed.

The Manchester City boss is never shy of praising Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, who recently labelled our rivals the top side on the planet.

Guardiola was speaking ahead of City’s home clash with Watford tomorrow, in which they’ll surely collect the three points having stumbled last weekend away to Norwich.

“The opponents we have, I’ve said many times, are the strongest opponents I have faced in my career as a manager – Liverpool. They have absolutely everything,” Guardiola told the Echo.

“[Liverpool] have absolutely everything in terms of a positional game, counter-attack, set pieces, transitions, offensive, defensive and mentality. Anfield the stadium – many things.”

Pep managed Barcelona while Jose Mourinho was at Real Madrid with Cristiano Ronaldo – and has been in the Champions League ever since he took charge of Barcelona back in 2008 – so this is an outrageous compliment…

Some will consider it mind-games, but we think the Spaniard just respects how brilliant a side Liverpool are under Klopp.

After all, we got 97 points last season and won the Champions League. We’re five from five in the Premier League this term. Multiple players are a candidate for best in the world in their respective positions and Anfield is the best stadium on the planet when it’s at its most vibrant.

Now though, Liverpool have to prove Guardiola right and win the title. It’s going to be a long, arduous ask – but we’ve got the capability to make it happen.
