The last couple of years haven’t gone to plan for German goalkeeper Loris Karius, and now his career in Turkey is coming into question.
Besiktas haven’t made the best start to the season, sitting 16th on 5 points, and a 4-1 loss to Trabzonspor has made tensions even higher.
The Eagles have now conceded ten goals in their last three away league fixtures, and Karius seems to be getting a fair amount of the blame.
Turkish pundit Ali Ece has said that Karius isn’t any better than Fabri – he now plies his trade with Fulham – the man who he replaced.
“Avci is still trying to improve Karius’ passing. He’s past that. You can’t teach these kinds of skills at that age. He isn’t Fabri. You can’t expect him to distribute the ball better than him,” he’s quoted as saying to 90+ by Sport Witness.
While the goalkeeper does play a big part in whether or not a team keeps a clean sheet – surely the defence aren’t free of criticism.
Karius isn’t having the best of luck in Turkey, and it now seems unlikely Besiktas will be exercising their option to sign the German on a permanent basis so Jurgen Klopp will have to find a new suitor for the goalkeeper.
