Gundogan admits City are watching Liverpool and hating our wins

Manchester City playmaker Ilkay Gundogan knows Liverpool have to drop points if Manchester City are to win the Premier League – obviously!

The weekend results mean we’re currently eight points clear, but it’s just turned October and there’s an awfully long way to go.

Despite what some are saying, no Liverpool fan thinks anything is won – we’re just delighted with our start and hope to go from strength to strength.

City’s German midfielder though has admitted watching us win every game is becoming increasingly difficult.

“It’s not easy to take these things and see your biggest rival win all the time,” he said, cited in the Echo.

“We’ve definitely dropped too many points in the early part of the season.

“If that’s the case in the next few weeks, the gap will be even bigger, so we have to win as much as possible.

“It’s quite early in the season and there are still a lot of points to play for, but if we want to speak about the title, we have to hope Liverpool will drop points.”

City are an astonishing side and we’re convinced they’ll go on a ludicrous winning run at some stage.

It’s our job to maintain our pace and continue winning when our backs are up against the wall, as they were on Saturday afternoon.

Yet again, a late goal earned us the three points – and a win in our next fixture v Manchester United will mean after nine games – we’ve played three of the traditional big six (two away from Anfield) – and have a perfect record…
