Liverpool beat Spurs 2-1 the other day, and Dejan Lovren started at centre back for the Reds. With the way some of us react to the Croatian being selected, that sentence may come as a surprise.
That being said, with Joel Matip now stuck on the sidelines for a number of weeks, the No.6 is likely to be called upon for our biggest test of the season so far.
We’re due to play Man City in a couple of weeks, and with the way things are at the moment, I’d tip Jurgen Klopp to entrust Lovren.
After the game against Spurs, the boss found Lovren in the tunnel and gave him a massive hug before talking into his ear – this sort of confidence-boosting will hopefully help the Croatian maintain his impressive performances of late.
I’m not sure we’d have seen this sort of man-management from the likes of Brendan Rodgers or Roy Hodgson.
Take a look at the video below (via LFC TV):
Look at Lovren. All pumped up after the Klopp hug. Would have kungfu kicked Kane in the tunnel if Klopp asked right there. 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/ma48l3p9Di
