Liverpool fans were impressed with the first half performance Naby Keita put in against Genk in the Champions League this week.
Jordan Henderson was missing from the Reds’ midfield, and the Guinean international stepped in and has surely given Jurgen Klopp some food for thought.
Keita was a bright spark in the middle of the park for Liverpool, with a lot of the Reds’ attacks starting with the No.8. He also managed to get off a fair few shots himself – something which we don’t get from the usual crop of midfielders.
Speaking of impressing, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t make a bad account of himself against the Belgian outfit either, but Naby definitely takes the cake so far.
The Guinean international created a stellar chance for Divock Origi in the first half, but the Belgian forward wasn’t able to finish and Keita was robbed of an assist.
With the big game against Manchester City just on the horizon, you wonder if the boss would consider giving Naby another go in midfield should this form continue.
He’s done it in the big games before, but, to be fair, it’s unlikely that captain Jordan Henderson would be ousted for possibly our biggest game of the year.
Liverpool fans on social media have been singing his praises, here is what some of them has had to say:
Ox and Keita in that zone right in front of the box are causing all manner of problems.
Corner comes in, airshot by Virg, Naby wins the ball back witha good tackle, then shoots wide.
