“European nights are special” – Alisson excited to make Champions League return at Anfield after injury

Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson is buzzing to walk out at Anfield tonight, as the Reds take on Belgian outfit Genk in the Champions League.

The No.1 hasn’t played for the Reds in the Champions League at our home since last season, and is thrilled at the prospect of being table to return this week.

He has hailed the influence of Anfield, and referenced our now famous wins over Barcelona. “European nights are always special,Alisson told the club’s official website. “The atmosphere here is always incredible and we show in every game what we can do here.

We showed it last season with big moments, like against Napoli and against Barcelona. We showed how strong we are here at home.

A win against Genk would put Liverpool top of their Champions League group, albeit likely temporarily as Napoli take on Salzburg tonight and a win would see them remain at the summit.

That being said, the Austrians are no pushovers, and even a draw would be enough for the Reds to take top spot if we do our job at Anfield.

We know what we need to do,” Ali added. “We know if we don’t come into the game 100 per cent concentrated, if we aren’t fully in the game, you can have problems with Genk – and with every opponent.

So we need to be 100 per cent focused to win the three points that we need.

Liverpool kick off at 8pm tonight at Anfield in search of a repeat win against Belgian outfit Genk, and the game will be shown live on BT Sport 3 from 7.15pm.
