Alisson: ‘We don’t want to feel how we felt last season… we need to give everything’

Alisson Becker, the best goalkeeper in the world, and the Champions League winner in June, says he does not want to end this season feeling the same way as he felt last year.

Despite picking up the biggest prize in club football, the Reds are not content with just that and want to take the Premier League title this time around too.

Manchester City beat the Reds to the league by a point and the defeat at the Etihad Stadium could have been costly in that. Beating Spurs in Madrid was a decent consolation, but, of course, after such a long time, the Premier League is the one everyone is desperate for.

In an excellent interview with The Guardian, Alisson explained: “We don’t want to feel how we felt last season. Being second by just one point.

“We don’t know which game made us lose the title because we had a few draws where we could have done better, and we had the loss away to Man City when we could have won or drawn.

“We know that we need to give everything in every game if we want to become Premier League champions. We want it and we will try to do it.”

Anfield will be the location for the first clash between the two top sides in the country this season, and like last year, the head-to-heads could prove to be crucial.

The Reds are in the better form, and have fewer injury concerns, so go into the match as favourites. Getting the three points would be an incredible boost to an already excellent campaign.
