Timo Werner ready to agree to be Bobby Firmino’s back-up at LFC – report

Red Bull Leipzig striker Timo Werner has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool over the last year or so, but it’s still unclear just how substantial these rumours are.

In recent weeks, there has been a lot more fuel added to the fire, and it seems the German international may finally be on the move even as soon as January.

Klopp has previously plucked Loris Karius, Ragnar Klavan and Naby Keita from the Bundesliga so he clearly keeps an eye on his homeland’s league.

Werner would certainly be an impressive coup for the Champions of Europe, and the forward would be breathing down Bobby Firmino’s neck for a place in the starting XI every week.

But that’s a point of discussion for the latest rumour that’s going around the mill – the Leipzig man is said to be happy enough to initially agree to be Bobby’s back-up.

That’s according to Bleacher Report (via Team Talk) who say the forward is ready to make the jump to Anfield. They do make a point of saying that he is initially happy to do that, so maybe there would be some promises made by the club going forward.
