It’s perhaps no surprise that Liverpool are so keen on acquiring Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt…
The 20-year-old has a release clause of just €17m, which becomes active in 2018, meaning his likely cost this year (providing he doesn’t extend his contract…), will be attainable – with his German club keen to offload before the clause becomes live.
Thats according to Simon Jones of the Mail who was giving an exclusive interview to our friends at AnfieldHQ.
The inside forward has all the attributes that make him a seemingly perfect option for Jurgen Klopp’s forward line. He’s quick, skilful, but most importantly – works relentlessly – as much off the ball as he does on it. Brandt is a team player with exceptional individual ability, the kind of which that in time, could change games for us.
We saw on Saturday how effective our front-three can be, but they have no support whatsoever from the bench, especially considering Daniel Sturridge’s days are numbered.
Adding attackers like Brandt and probably one more this summer is a necessity and a priority.
